AN EXPLANATION OF THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
The Law of Attraction has been suggested throughout history in the culture around us. It is at the heart of all religion and is gaining popularity within contemporary spiritual teachings.
The Law of Attraction says that 'like attracts like', which means like-minded thoughts, people and events are brought together.
In his book The Power of Feeling Good, author Michael James explains this powerful law and offers new techniques for successfully applying it in our own lives:
Our thoughts and feelings are everything
The most powerful energy on this planet is thought. What we think of as our problems – arguments, illnesses, relationship issues, depression, money troubles – are problems of the mind and of thinking. They are caused and perpetuated by self-destructive thoughts: thoughts that do not feel good when we think them. Everyone who seeks help for anything in their life is looking for relief from this self-attack.
So when we feel bad it is not for the reason that we think. It is our perception, or more precisely our negative thoughts about the situation, that causes the pain, rather than the situation itself. And when we change the thought, we change the situation.
Thoughts are things
It’s so easy to think that thoughts are private or inconsequential. That is the way many people used to think and many people continue to think.
Yet thoughts are not private or inconsequential. If we could see thoughts with our eyes we would see them shooting out of us, affecting our bodies and our world. If we could see thoughts we would realise the miracles that our thoughts can cause and how true it is that our thoughts are the most powerful ‘things’ on the planet.
We are energy
Our world is energy in motion and our thoughts are the way we allow or resist this energy or life force. Good-feeling thoughts allow the energy to flow and bad-feeling thoughts restrict the flow. Good things that happen to us are as a result of this natural, powerful flow and so-called bad things are simply absence of this flow.
Your feelings are guidance
The most powerful energy on this planet is our thought. I would go further in saying that thought is the only thing with any real power at all.
Your thoughts create your reality. What you focus on, you attract to you. Your feelings are guidance that tells you whether what you are in the process of attracting will please you when it shows up in your life. In other words, if a thought feels good, it is; if it doesn’t feel good, it isn’t.
Our feelings are our sixth and most powerful sense.
The power of emotions
Our emotions tell us everything we need to know about where we are and where we want to be. Each degree of emotion symbolises how connected we are to the flow of God force or life force within us. The better we feel, the more connected we are; the worse we feel, the less connected we are. The better we feel, the nearer we are to all the ‘good stuff’; the worse we feel, the further away we are from all that we want.
Many of us may have been told not to feel our emotions or not to rely on them. However, our emotions are the most powerful and important sense we have. Feeling as good as we can is the most powerful decision we can make.
